Five Characters in Search of an Author
You now have all four of the keycards, so you can go to the top of the stairs in the Game Engine and enter the gates since it now has a glowing marker there for you.

You begin in Matt Groening’s large circular driveway. This entire episode basically consists of two areas; the driveway and the main floor of the house. Your enemies here are lawyers. That's right: guys in suits with briefcases. There are a lot of them and they are quite nasty (your little taste of reality for the game). Homer’s Gummi attack seems to work quite well on them, but use whatever else you can to get around them. The objective for this area is to destroy the four white limousines blocking the entrance to the mansion. Mostly because they are blocking your way and they are also spawning more lawyers. As you look at the mansion, look to the right at the giant Mr. Burns sculptures over the hedges. You can grapple to Mr. Burns’ nose to get on the hedges and then jump onto the square pedestal to get a RoboBart power up to help you accomplish the objective.
What do you call 100 lawyers buried up to their neck in sand? Not enough sand.
Keep an eye on your health and feel free to run away and hide anywhere you can to catch a break and rebuild your strength. Those lawyers can really put a hurt on you in a big hurry. Once you have the limousines destroyed, get rid of any of the remaining lawyers until the entire area has become silent and peaceful once again. There are a couple of collectibles out here, so let’s grab them before we try to get in the mansion.
All the money they make and they all have to buy the same suit.
Homer has 2 collectibles out here. The first one is in the middle of everything sitting on top of the giant pile of money in the middle of the driveway. No special tricks to getting it; just walk as close to it as you can and once you get just close enough, you can simply hop up and grab it.
Just sitting up there like it owns the place.
Now come back down to the driveway and look on top of the hedges to your left as you are looking at the mansion. If the piles of paper money near the hedges survived the battle with the lawyers, you can jump up onto them and then onto the hedges where you’ll find the other Duff Bottle Top. If the piles of paper money are gone, use the Homer Ball Burst up one of the nearby piles of coin money to jump yourself up there. Claim the collectible and switch to Bart.
Regular fertilization makes for strong hedges – just don’t ask Bart and Homer to fertilize.
Just like you did to get up to get the RoboBart power up earlier, grapple to the nose of the Mr. Burns sculpture on the same side of the driveway you got the Duff Bottle Top from. Stand in the spot that the Bottle Top just was and turn to look at the pedestal beside the driveway. It will be the one directly opposite the one that had the power up. Waiting for you up there is a Krusty Coupon. Double-jump out and grab it.
Well, don’t just hang there!
All that’s left out here is to get into the mansion. Walk up the steps to the front door and you’ll have to play a little game to get in. Similar to an old memory game called Simon from back in the 80’s, a pattern will play on the colored lights and you will have to repeat them by stepping on the same lights. Each time you successfully repeat the pattern, it will play again but get longer. You will have to do this three times successfully to get the front door to open. Of course, the pattern is The Simpsons Theme that we’re sure you’ll recognize right away. The correct full pattern is: purple, orange, pink, black, white, orange, purple, blue. When you get it right, the front door will open and you can enter to take on Matt Groening.
You didn’t think you were just going to walk in the front door, did you?
After a brief cut-scene, you’ll immediately receive Videogame Cliché #26. When you regain control, you find yourself in a very large room filled with money and gold. There is a lower area in the middle with a long table and an upper area that runs around the outside of the room and around to Mr. Groening’s desk which is on the opposite side of the room from where you are now.
Doesn’t matter how much money you have, you do not put the dining room in the foyer.
This area serves as an arena for what is nothing more than a boss fight with Matt Groening, so before we commence to kicking his butt, let’s grab up the rest of the collectibles for this episode.
As Homer, turn immediately to the left and destroy the pile of money right in front of you. Behind it is a Duff Bottle Top.
Rich people have cool parties, and people still flick beer caps at their house.
All during this battle, you’ll be fighting off Robots and Lobsters. Keep them off and away from you and go down into the lower area with the dining table. On the right side of the table about halfway down you’ll see a Duff Bottle Top just sitting there in the middle of the floor. Approach it carefully and the floor around it will fall away surrounding the collectible with molten gold. Jump across the gold to the platform with the collectible to claim it.
The whole evil robot and lobster thing we’ve seen in so many games lately is just getting tiring.
Continue across the room by jumping across the molten gold and head toward Mr. Groening’s desk. Get back up on the upper area where the desk is destroying the piles of money that block your path up the stairs. When you are up in the area with the desk, go back over to the left side of the room and jump on the seat cushion found there next to the gold safe and you’ll be bounced right up onto Homer’s last Duff Bottle Top of the episode
It’s not a party until people start jumping on the furniture.
Switch back over to Bart and go back down to the dining table. On the opposite side of the table from Homer’s earlier collectible is a Krusty Coupon in the same position. Jump across the molten gold and get it.
Contrary to popular belief, lobsters do not scream when placed in a pot of boiling water.
Go back to the upper area where you first entered the room. On the right side of the room (as you look down the length of it) you can grapple up to the nearest light fixture hanging from the ceiling. Once there, you can grapple to the second and then the third. The fourth fixture is rising up and down. Wait for it to lower and then jump and glide over to it. When the fixture rises back up, jump again and glide over to the light fixture on the opposite side of the room. Again, grapple to the next two light fixtures and finally jump and float to the last. You should now be on the fixture directly across from the one you started on. You’ll know you’re in the right place because when you look to the wall nearest you, you’ll see a Krusty Coupon sitting right there on the ledge. Jump and float over to get it.
Just wait, you’ll go through all that again.
Return to the first light fixture and make your way all the way back around again. Instead of looking to the right this time, look straight ahead toward the wall with the vines on it. The last collectible of the episode is on the cabinet on the right side of the vines. Wait for the light to rise to its highest point then jump and float to the vines on the wall. Climb over to the cabinet and retrieve the Krusty Coupon.
It’s time to whip some creator tail!
Now you’re going to get down to business and defeat Matt Groening. The first hit will require that you switch to Homer and go to the desk end of the room. Mr. Groening will be in the alcove on the left side of the room (as you face the desk). There is a ramp that leads up to him. Break the piles of money that block the ramp and then use the Homer Ball Burst up the ramp to do the first piece of damage to the creator.
You’ve got him running now!
Mr. Groening will now move to the alcove on the other side of the room, directly across from where he just was. You’ll have to switch back to Bart now and get up on the light fixtures the same way you did when you gathered the collectibles. This time you only need to go to the fourth light and Mr. Groening will be below you to your right. Jump and float down to the switch on the ledge to the left of him and activate the switch. The curtain will close, Mr. Groening takes more damage, and again he will move.
It must be an ego damage meter, because all you did was close the curtain.
Groening is now in the alcove on the same wall but at the other end. This hit will be much the same as the first but with a little twist added. Switch to Homer and get yourself located at the bottom of the ramp beneath him again. You’re doing the same thing with the Homer Ball Burst, but this time you need to time your Burst to avoid the giant pencils that are popping in and out of the wall into your path. When you get the timing right and hit Groening, he’ll move back across the room to the alcove on the opposite side.
It is doubtful that anyone over there is still animating with pencils.
Once again, switch back over to Bart and head back up onto the light fixtures. This time, go all the way around to the last light again and Groening will be below you just like before. Again float down to the switch to the left of him and activate it to close the curtain.
At least now it’s going to get interesting.
After the fourth hit, Groening will take position in a balcony high above the floor in the center of the room. The dining table will rise and create a ramp that leads straight up to him. What to do next almost needs no explanation, but we’ll explain it anyway. Switch to Homer and get on the very long ramp. There are a large number of robots and lobsters near the top of the ramp, so get as many of them out of the way as you can. The best method is to use Homer’s Gummi attack. When the path is as clear as possible, switch over to Homer Ball, aim for the end of the ramp and use the Homer Ball Burst. You’ll knock Groening to the floor and the battle will be finished. It’s all over but the final cut-scene. Watch and enjoy your trip back to Springfield!
He was brought down by that which he created. There is a deep message in there somewhere.
