Mob Rule
After completing Around the World in 80 Bites, you'll unlock Marge as a new game buddy. Take the bus or walk over to the next episode Mob Rule, and as soon as you step into the marker, you'll begin the episode as Marge and Lisa. We’re going to enlist the power of the people!
Malibu Stacy Seals: 7
Try-N-Save Coupons: 6
Videogame Clichés: 2
Right away you can get Videogame Cliché #8. Simply attempt to jump over the short wall onto the church grounds. You can’t, but that would be the point.
The first order of business is learning Marge’s Megaphone. Point the Megaphone in the general direction of nearby citizens and press the O (circle) button to enlist them into your mob. In this case, there is only one citizen hanging around, so enlist Ed Flanders into your “mob of 1." Look to the lower left of your screen and you will see a counter that now show “1/1," indicating that you have one available member in your mob. With Marge’s Megaphone in hand, turn to the Grand Theft Scratchy (GTS) float and target it with the L1 button. There is another counter that appears with the target that shows the maximum number of mob members you can send after the target. The float needs to be destroyed, so while targeting the float push the O (circle) button to send Flanders over to begin the destruction. Speed up the process a little and give him a hand.
| Note: When you face off against enemies, members of your mob will often be knocked out and be removed from your group. You can get them back by waiting for them to wake up. When they try to run away, simply enlist them again and they will rejoin your group. |
With the float destroyed, you can now move on. From this point forward, any citizen you see wandering around should be enlisted into your mob. Move through the alley, enlist the citizens and move forward to destroy the next GTS float. Remember that when you target the float, continue to press the O (circle) button until you have sent the maximum number of mob members to the target.
As soon as you enter the next area, turn immediately to your left and look on the ledge above the door to “Chub Med," where you'll see Marge’s first collectible sitting up there. Stand on the edge of the short stairway to the right of it to double jump onto the ledge and grab the Try-N-Save Coupon.
There are Itchy and Scratchy gangsters in this area along with a few more random and inappropriately placed aimless citizens. Enlist everyone you can find and eliminate the cat and mouse threats. Your total number of mob members should be at six. Use your group to destroy the GTS float in the upper right of this area.
With the float gone, you will be left with a stack of tires in the road with a sparkle on it indicating its importance. Switch to Lisa and bounce off the tires up to the Buddha on the building ledge above. Activate the Hand of Buddha and have a little fun with it first -- there's no reason to pick up the various cars in the area, but they make a really cool explosion when you drop them. Use this to your advantage to help Marge’s mob members fight off the new gangsters that have arrived, so you can focus on the task at hand. When your peeps are safe, pick up the large gray GTS trunk and drop it in front of the spraying fire hydrant so you can continue onward.
Switch back to Marge and continue to the next area with two more GTS floats. As you enter here you are met by police resistance, so use your mob powers or whatever you feel is necessary to get them out of your way. When they are gone, send in the mob to destroy the two floats. The wrecked floats will leave you with two large pieces of sign lying in place of the floats. There may be something you can do with those.
“Hey look, its Bob Dylan…Psyche!”
Switch to Lisa and climb the ladder up the side of the nearby orange building to the Buddha up on the ledge. Activate the Hand of Buddha and set Lisa up to get the collectible. Grab the piece of fire escape on the roof of the same building the Buddha is on, and drop it right over the sidewalk next to the Malibu Stacy Seal you see floating there. The fire escape will magically stick to the wall in the right place after you drop it three or four times. If you are feeling particularly efficient, pick up the signs that were left from the destroyed floats and drop them over the road to create a bridge. Then, exit the Hand of Buddha and you won't have to worry about going back to that one. Don’t forget to grab the Malibu Stacy Seal on your way back down to the ground.
You can now head across the bridge you'd just created, where the police maybe attacking Marge. Switch to Marge and get rid of the threat. When the cops are out of the way and you have regained any strength in numbers you may have lost, look for the crack in the wall and send in a couple mob members to break open the wall.
Step through the new hole and you’ll be met by more police fighting with some more citizens. Eliminate the police and enlist any new citizens you find. Run down to the lower level of the parking deck as you continue to fight off police and enlist another citizen. When you have enlisted everyone available, your mob should have grown to 9. On the bottom level of the parking deck, look for another crack in the wall near an orange car and have the mob break it open for you. Doing this will give you a 2 for 1 collectible. Breaking the wall will give you Videogame Cliché #9 and inside the new hole will be a Try-N-Save Coupon for Marge.
Switch to Lisa and go back up to where you entered the parking deck. At the top of the ramp there are tires that Lisa can jump on to go up to the top of the parking deck, where she will find a Buddha. Lisa’s arrival on the top deck will bring on a couple of Itchy and Scratchy gangsters, so get rid of them and activate the Hand of Buddha. Pick up any cars that block the mob from getting up there and drop it somewhere. Marge and her crew will join Lisa on top of the parking deck.
Switch over to Marge and face the GTS billboard across from the Buddha. Instruct your mob to have it removed.
Switch to Lisa and step across the fallen billboard. Just on the other side of it, look to her left and jump up onto the cinder block/air conditioner/unidentified gray thing. Hop up and grab the ledge. One more hop will put her up on the ledge with the Malibu Stacy Seal.
Switch back to Marge and continue around the building to the next billboard. This one adds a slight twist, as it is electrified and your mob can’t get to it to destroy it. It’s time to let the little one handle things. Go to the vent in the wall next to the sign and press Δ (triangle). Marge will take Maggie off her back and send her into the vent. You can now control Maggie through the vent. Take the first left and Maggie can grab the Try-N-Save Coupon. Turn her around and crawl toward the red button. When Maggie gets there you’ll be prompted to again hit Δ (triangle). Doing so will cause Maggie to spit her pacifier at the button and cut the electricity to the billboard. Maggie will automatically return to Marge and you can now command the mob to destroy the billboard.
Continue on to the next area until you come to a large gray elevator. Target the elevator with the Megaphone and Marge can command the entire mob to wait on it. When they are all on there, switch to Lisa and activate the nearby Hand of Buddha. Use it to pull the light blue transistor out of the holder which will lower the elevator to the next large and hectic area.
Switch back to Marge and join the mob on the ground below. Things can get kind of busy down here, so first you’re going to want to get rid of all the gangsters and police. There are a total of three collectibles in this section, and you'll want the peace and quiet you can get to find them, so your first order of business is to find Marge’s power up (finally!). Look for the police hat on the landing of the stairs in the middle area. Grab it to become invincible and strong and eliminate every threat you can get hold of.
When the area is quiet and you’ve gathered back whatever citizens you lost in the process, focus on Marge’s collectible first. They didn’t make this as obvious, so this takes some searching. In your case you only need to search the next two sentences. Go to the GTS float on the left side of this area and find the niche in the wall behind it with the two boxes. Destroy the boxes to get the Try-N-Save Coupon.
Lisa has two collectibles in here, so switch to her and go around to the GTS “Blood Island” float on the right side of the area. There is also a niche in the wall there with some boxes and a barrel. Destroy them and Lisa will get her Malibu Stacy Seal.
The next collectible is a bit more of a challenge but at least it helps to progress you through the level. Switch back to Marge and have her command the mob to destroy all three GTS floats in the area. This will leave behind three piles of building materials of different shapes. Now switch back to Lisa and find the pile of tires on the left side to bounce up to the ledge of the orange and pink building, where you can double jump across to the Buddha on the other ledge of the green building. Activate the Hand of Buddha and several gangsters will appear. Feel free to exit the Hand of Buddha and jump down to give Marge and the mob a hand to get rid of them. When all is cleared, return to the Buddha. Now you want to pick up the piles of building materials and stack them as best you can near the ledge of the building at the top of the stairs. This procedure is frustrating, but with a little persistence you will eventually make a stack that Lisa can climb to get up on the ledge. The square pile works as the best base and after a few near misses you can eventually get the round pile to rest on top of it. Once you have it, exit the Buddha and climb up to the ledge and claim Lisa’s Malibu Stacy Seal.
When you have claimed all the goodies in the area; return to the Buddha. Pick up the building materials you used to access the collectible and drop them into their corresponding spot on the wooden stage in the lower grassy area. Switch over to Marge and you can now command the mob to build something rather than destroy it. Get a couple of mob members on each pile of building materials and they will construct a ramp up to the next area.
You can’t go far due to the fire hydrants in the next area, so have Marge command the mob to use the building materials to make Lisa a platform next to the green building. You can now switch to Lisa and use the platform to get to the Buddha on the ledge above. Activate the Hand of Buddha and look around for two GTS trunks. Pick each one up and drop each in front of a hydrant to block the flow of water. When you’ve done this, the police will come, so exit the Buddha and help Marge fight off the attack.
Once you have taken care of the police, there are two collectibles in the area you can grab before you move on. In the middle of the dead end street, there is a Malibu Stacy Seal sitting where you blocked the flow of water from one of the hydrants. When you have it, switch to Marge and go past the second hydrant and look for the crack in the wall. Snake is inside beckoning for you to let him out. Command the mob to open the crack, releasing Snake and revealing a Try-N-Save Coupon in his cell.
You should be up to 12 mob members now, and you’re ready to hit the final section of the episode. Continue past the jail cell and walk into town square. A short cut-scene will mark your arrival followed by complete chaos. How you choose to approach this is up to you, but your best bet is to enlist every citizen you can find and knock out every cop in the area. If you enlist every citizen in the square your mob should have 20 members in it. (You did remember to enlist Snake, didn’t you?)
There are several options here to clear out the police. To the building on the right there is a flagpole that Lisa can climb to get to a Buddha. From here she can activate the Hand of Buddha and drop cars on the attacking police. There is also a Clobber Girl power up Lisa can use on the front steps of Town Hall. Of course, you have Marge and her mob to help delegate the responsibility of challenging authority. Whatever method you choose, don’t forget to destroy the brownish SUV in front of Town Hall. There is a Malibu Stacy Seal underneath it.
Once everything seems under control (and yes, that is just an illusion for the moment), switch to Marge and target the large GTS statue in the middle of the town square. Command the maximum number of mob members to begin the destruction of the GTS statue. When you do this you will bring on another wave of cranky policemen. The statue takes much longer to destroy than anything else in this episode, so while the mob continues to destroy it you must also help to fight off the police. You may need to command people back to the statue as they are distracted from their work by the police. Once the statue is finally destroyed, a cut-scene will begin and the head of the statue will roll across town square and tear down the right side of the Town Hall.
You’re in the home stretch of the episode now. Two more collectibles and a pacifier attack and it’s over. If you haven’t already, switch to Lisa and climb up the front of the now crumbled Town Hall. When you get to the roof, jump to the area over the front doors and claim the last Malibu Stacy Seal of the episode.
When you have the seal, switch back to Marge and find the vent right next to where you climbed up onto the roof. Send Maggie in so we can finish this episode off. Crawl ahead into the vent and look for a place you can turn left. You’ll know you have the right spot when you see the Try-N-Save Coupon at the end of it. Grab the coupon and continue down the vent the way you were going. Wait for the steam to subside, enjoy the short cut-scene and go straight to the valve ahead of you (you will have to wait for the steam to subside to pass). When you get there, push Δ (triangle) to shoot it with your pacifier. Continue through the vent and just around a bend there will be another valve where you will do the same thing. After a little crawl, you’ll reach a third and final valve. Do your pacifier thing. Now you can relax, set your controller down, and enjoy some final cut-scene entertainment.
